Community Draem green

Green Thumb A.V. Youth program and the City of Palmdale developed the G & G (Grow and Glow) summer youth program to assist the community with providing activities for youths in the Courson Park, and surrounding areas, during the summer. G & G provides activities to assist with decreasing various risk factors, youths are faced with during summer break. In implementing G & G activities are offered to decrease the possible violations youths commit in the community, due to a lack of low-cost to no cost local activities, G & G assist with increasing the positive growth of the youth to glow on our community.

 

The 8 week Grow and Glow, summer program will operate June 16 – August 8, 2014, excluding the week of Independence Day. G & G will operate during the hours of 11:00Am – 2:30Pm. Youths will be provided lunches through donations. Youths are provided with shirts with the Green Thumb logo, and Grow & Glow print for easy identification of youth. The program activities will provide positive physical health, and literacy mentoring that nurtures growth to enhance the youth glow of knowledge for better performance when returning to school. Community Discovery day provide G & G youth’s that include visits from individual’s from professional careers, every Friday. Community Discovery day allow youth’s to the exposure of professionals allowing the exploring mind, a chance to examine an interest in fields of success for future careers. The last week of the G&G program provides backpacks, filled with school supplies, and shoes are provided to assist youth’s with a necessity need for returning to school.

 Ages (6-13)                      

 Youths under 6 years of age, MUST be accompanied by a parent. Youths  Over 13 years of age can volunteer with approval.
